Aristotle University consists of 41 Departments as well as many other units - such as laboratories, study rooms and libraries - which makes it the largest university in the Greece in terms of staff, number of students and facilities offered.
Due to the research work and the activities undertaken by the teaching and scientific staff, the University has gained international recognition.
The University has lived up to its founders' expectations: not only as far as its general contribution to the development of northern Greece is concerned, but also in terms of its special contribution to the scientific and educational development of the so-called "New Areas".
Aristotle University operates the Hellasgrid Resource Centre in Thessaloniki, which will be added to the EGEE infrastructure. The University is also an active participant in the Crossgrid project, operating the Hellasgrid Certification Authority.
