The Institute of Accelerationg Systems and Applications (IASA) in Athens, Greece, is the largest research institute operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Education. IASA's research programme is supported through competitive research grants primarily from the Ministry of Development and the European Union.

IASA is charged with pursuing research and promoting graduate studies in areas where accelerators, and accelerator related technologies, play a major role. Its cross disciplinary character and superb infrastructure in enabling technologies have proven to provide particularly attractive and fertile ground to a number of technology driven scientific fronts.

IASA is currently engaged in Research projects in the following areas: Accelerator Science & Engineering; Nuclear, Hadronic and Particle Physics; Nuclear Medicine and Imaging; High Energy Astrophysical Plasmas; Automated Control; Scientific Computing; Atmospheric Research; Microwave Engineering; Energy production and Conservation; Telecommunications; and Archaeometry and Preservation of Cultural Heritage Artifacts.

IASA operates the GRNET ROC and HellasGrid in Athens, which will be incorporated in the EGEE project.
